Strategic Pricing Adjustments by Nvidia Due to Rising Memory Costs in AI Servers

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Nvidia is set to implement price hikes exceeding 15% on numerous AI server configurations scheduled for release in early 2027. These increases are applicable to models built on the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms. The extent of each increase depends on the specific chip generation and memory configuration. Nvidia has not publicly disclosed a blanket price increase for all server products, but leading server manufacturers have communicated the new pricing details to key data center clients.

Major data center operators, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, have been informed of the updated prices by server manufacturers. These companies purchase large quantities of AI infrastructure for cloud and data center operations. The rise in memory costs has become a significant factor influencing the reported price adjustments of servers. AI deployment demands large amounts of high-bandwidth and server memory, in addition to GPUs, CPUs, networking hardware, and storage components. The high demand from AI applications has kept certain memory markets tight through 2026.

TrendForce predicts that conventional DRAM contract prices will increase by 13% to 18% in the third quarter of 2026. Similarly, NAND Flash contract prices are projected to go up by 10% to 15% during the same period. The research firm noted that server DRAM remains in short supply because suppliers are prioritizing capacity for AI-related uses. While some long-term supply agreements have limited the extent of price hikes, overall memory costs for servers continue to be elevated.

Memory Cost Increase Correlates with Persistent High Demand for AI Servers

Nvidia announced in May that Vera Rubin had reached full production status with server manufacturers and supply-chain partners worldwide. The company added that products utilizing Rubin would become available in the latter half of 2026. Vera Rubin integrates the Vera CPU, Rubin GPU, NVLink 6, ConnectX-9, BlueField-4, and Spectrum-6 networking technologies. This new platform succeeds Grace Blackwell as Nvidia’s flagship rack-scale architecture designed for large AI workloads. System builders are developing Rubin-based solutions for cloud providers, AI research labs, and hyperscale data centers.

Grace Blackwell continues to be a key element of Nvidia’s current data center lineup. The GB200 NVL72 configuration connects 36 Grace CPUs with 72 Blackwell GPUs within a single liquid-cooled rack. This system is engineered to function as one NVLink computing domain suitable for extensive AI models. Price hikes vary depending on specific configurations, with memory capacity and chip generation playing critical roles. Consequently, the 15% figure does not reflect a uniform increase across all Nvidia server models.

Expansion of Vera Rubin Production Drives Growth in Nvidia’s Server Portfolio

Suppliers of memory continue to shift production toward server and high-performance segments to meet AI-driven demand. According to TrendForce, this shift has reduced supply availability for some PC and consumer DRAM products. Despite ongoing strong shipments of servers through 2026, buyers have continued to stockpile data center memory, contributing to sustained tightness in the market. The research firm anticipates that server DRAM supply will remain constrained into 2027, as demand growth surpasses new supply. These market dynamics underpin the pricing adjustments Nvidia is enacting.

Nvidia begins this pricing cycle with record-breaking data center sales. In its fiscal first quarter ending April 26, the company reported total revenue of $81.6 billion, with data center revenue reaching an all-time high of $75.2 billion, up 92% from the previous year. Nvidia forecasted second-quarter revenue of about $91 billion, plus or minus 2%, when releasing these results in May. The company is scheduled to announce its fiscal second-quarter earnings on August 26.
